Vanessa Darras
Vanessa Darras is a Naturalist at the Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center (EEC) in Basking Ridge, NJ. She has worked part-time and full-time at the center for 12 years. She loves to be outdoors and to teach about nature. She has taught many ages ranging from infant to senior and has been to Costa Rica and has taught in other places like Saint Simons Island, Georgia.   Back

Joe is Horticultural Consultant at Rutgers New Jersey Agricultural Experimental Station, Cooperative Extension of Somerset County in Bridgewater.   Back
Kathleen Podgalsky
Kathleen Podgalsky has worked in horticulture for over 20 years, more than 18 of them at the Leonard J. Buck Garden of the Somerset County Park Commission. Kathleen has a BA from Seton Hall University with a major in Art History, and has also attended the Horticulture program at County College of Morris, as well as many conferences and seminars on horticulture and gardening.

Hubert Ling
Dr. Ling has a Ph.D. in Biology and worked in industry and academia focusing on microbiology, mycology and botany, and written many publications related to general biology. He has served on the board as horticulturist for the NJ Native Plant Society, and a monthly contributing writer for the "Gardner News".

Edith Lit
She is a 20-year staff member of the Somerset County Library System. When not teaching computer classes, she presents several nature programs. They include Backyard Birds, Hummingbirds in Your Backyard, and Plants and Pollinators. Edith is nature enthusiast and amateur photographer.   Back

He is the owner of Scott's Florist in Raritan, and has over 30 years of experience in floral designs.   Back
Dorothy Smullen
She is a noted nature and garden club speaker as well as a Washington Valley Garden Club member. Dorothy is a Past President of the NJ Mycological Association, a former Friends of the Great Swamp NWR Board Member, and a teacher-naturealist at the NJ Audubon Society.  Back

Kyle Gourley
Mr. Gourley received a B.S. degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering in 2013 from Rutgers University. As an undergraduate student, he designed a storm water management plan for the Food Science Building on Cook Campus and also work on restoration proposals for the Royce Brook Watershed. He interned with Water Resources Program for the summers of 2011 through 2013. During his internship, he has designed, constructed, maintained, and assessed Rain gardens throughout the Garden State.  back
Marianne C. Overk
Mrs. Overk graduated with a B.A. degree in Industrial Education from Trenton State College. After graduation she studied floristry and joined her parents in florist business. She was NJSFA President (1990-1993), and taught seminars at NJ Flower and Garden show. She is a floral designer at Gray's Florist on Route 202/206 North since 2003.  back
Jeannie Geremia
Ms. Geremia is the Garden Club of New Jersey's Butterflies and Bee GAP (Gardeners Adding Pollinators) Chair and the GCNJ Backyard Wildlife Habitat Chair, a New NGC Project. In addition, she is one of the contributors for Gardener News, Inc. She will give an interactive over-view of the project's goals of growing seriously declining pollinator population and invite everyone to participate in the "Million Pollinator Garden Challenge".  back
Leo Hollein
Mr. Hollein is a volunteer at the Great Swamp and coordinates the maintenance and monitoring of their bluebird box trail (140 boxes). He participates in the banding of ducks and screech owls.  back
Mary T. Eklund
Ms. Eklund is a Master Gardener and a noted garden club speaker. Mary developed and managed the new Master Gardener Program, Camden County NJ. As with all of the Master Gardeners, Mary shares her knowledge with the community as a public service.  back
Grant Stiles
Mr. Stiles has a degree in entomology and serves as a leader in the New Jersey beekeeping community. He established Stiles Apiaries (currently located in Fords, NJ). In addition to producing local honey, Stiles Apiaries also runs a migratory operation that transports 2000 colonies of honeybees from Maine to Florida.  back
Dr, Frederick C. Skvara
Dr. Skvara is a retired pathologist with major interests in gardening, philatley and photography. His photos of science and nature are in the permanent art collections of Johnson & Johnson and RWJ Medical School. They have also been exhibited at Lincoln Center in New York City & Sherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary as well as being used in magazines, advertising, CD's, textbooks and corporate annual reports and on product labels.  back
Cyndy Losanno
Ms. Losanno is a Master Gardener and a former Washington Valley Garden Club member. As with all of the Master Gardeners, Cyndy shares her knowledge with the community as a public service..  back
Susan Doge
Ms. Doge, a Washington Valley Garden Club member, has traveled extensively in Europe and will share her experiences through the eyes of her camera.  back

Eiko Crabtree
She received an Ikebana teaching certificate from the Sogetsu School in Tokyo, and participated in flower design at flower shows. She received a Tri-color award at 2010 flower show sponsored by the Garden club of NJ, and in 2009 she was a winner of underwater design at the District IV flower show. She is a member of Garden Club of Hunterdon County.  back
Connie Kallas
He is a Rutgers Master Gardener and a noted speaker of the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners. He organized the Speakers Bureau and is currently co–team leader. As with all of the Master Gardeners, Connie shares his knowledge with the community as a public service.  back

Frederick C. Skvara, M.D.
Dr. Skvara is a retired Pathologist from the staff at JFK Medical Center in Edison and is a former Associate Professor of Pathology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He has major interests in gardening and is an avid philatelist as well as a longtime friend of the WVGC.  back
Mary Bowers & Ellie Rich
Both Ms. Bowers and Ms. Rich have vast experience as professional gardeners. In 2009, Mary and Ellie became Rutgers Master Gardeners. As with all of the Master Gardeners, Mary and Ellie share their knowledge with the community as a public service.  back
